Preview for Next week's Blog Series

I've decided that I really want to post about my shoes. I have really grown to love shoes: buying them, wearing them, smelling them. Wait, just kidding on that last one, or am I? I thought about just doing one post with a picture that showed all my shoes but that wouldn't give enough attention to each pair. Also, I need things to blog about as my life's indicator is rapidly falling toward Empty. So I have decided to do a series of blogs on the different shoes I wear each day. There are several reasons for this and why don't I go ahead and list those for you:

1. As I said earlier, lack of blog writing ideas.
2. This will force me to really pick my outfits to work in order to wear a different pair of shoes each day whereas now I tend to frequent the same black heals every day.
3. I will be able to express myself through my shoes.
4. Of course, you all want to see my shoes and comment on how gorgeous they are and what great taste I have.
5. I will have to have my camera with me and take pictures of my shoes thus somewhat fulfilling the taking of more pictures goal found here.

So next week I will have a different pair of shoes on each day. I'm excited for this little challenge I'm giving myself. Anyway here is a little preview:

The shoes that I actually have are chocolate brown but this is what they look like. I got this off another website. I love these boots but I tend to only wear them with one outfit. Also I had to tie a rubber band around the two metal rings so they wouldn't clink together as I walked. Hope you look forward to meeting my shoes starting Monday.

Fat Rant

Probably some of you have seen this already on the other blog I stole it from. I loved it.

I think I'm gonna try to watch this every once in a while to give myself a little self-confidence. I'm smaller than she is and I think she looks great. I want her jacket.

The New Yorker for Today

I have a daily calendar for the New Yorker and somtimes they are funny. So I think I will share those funny ones with you and I will continue too as I come across them. These are funny to me so they maybe aren't to you, and ones that aren't funny to me but may have been funny to you unfortunately you won't see here.

Does Everyone Need a Little Self-Help?

So, if you frequent my book blog you will have seen that I am reading The Secret right now for my book club. It's interesting, but I'm not very motivated to read it. I have other books that I am excited to read. So I announced to my roommate that I wasn't going to finish it. This erupted into hours long discussion about who I am and what is my reasoning behind not wanting to read self-help books. "I just don't like them." was not good enough.

My roommate loves reading self-help books. It really helps her, mainly because I think she is motivated enough to actually take some of the advice she finds in those books. I told her that I was too lazy which she came back with "There is no such thing as laziness but it's all fear, so what are you afraid of?" We had a really good discussion where she got to know the inner me more. Mainly because she just kept digging and digging (I've got bruises). It was good to voice some of the stuff that I think about. Loralee would from time to time say she doesn't know why it bothers her so much that I don't want to finish all the these books. She says she can see how it is affecting her life for good and wants it to do the same for mine. Well, I conceded and I will finish The Secret. You know me. I'm a people pleaser.

So what do you feel about self-help books and was there one that you would like to reccommend?

Cousins Weekend numero 5 part II

.....Previously on Cousins Weekend: read the preceding post.

Seriously, don't you just hate "to be continueds" They drive me crazy. One of my favorite shows, Heroes, did that to me this week but here is the kicker, it doesn't come back on for another month and a half. How can I possibly wait that long to see if Peter Petrelli gets killed by Syler or is he able to summon his own powers to defeat him? What's gonna happen with Claire after meeting her grandmother? Is her father gonna be killed by The Company? These are questions I need the answer to now or at the very least next Monday but a whole month and a half. I'm of a mind to not watch again just to spite them. But I can't. I'll come back. They know I'll come back.

Luckily for you all you only had to wait one day for the continuation. So here it goes. Where were we? Ah yes...

We were running kind of late for the play and I was worried about finding parking. Downtown is hard for that. We pulled into this one lot that Aly and I have used before but it was too expensive for as long as we wanted to stay. Across the street was one that was cheaper. We were two blocks away from the theatre so we walked as fast as we could hoping to not be too late. Well, we didn't have anything to worry about. They hadn't even really started. One of the actors was just talking to the audience and explaining the audience interaction part. That's right, audience interaction. Well, the curtain's parted and out came Olive Foil. Among the other characters in the play were Bruno Baddyson (the audience boo's every time he comes out), Blimpie, Bart Baddyson, Barbie Boop(cat calls), Mama, and of course Pot Pie(cheers and hurrahs). Oh yeah there was baby too who later was named Sweet Tea. The story was extremely cheesy and at first we girls looked at each other like we didn't know what we had gotten into. I think the audience interaction made it fun and once we got into it we enjoyed it. There were lots and lots of puns, bad jokes, old jokes, and just overall wackiness. The play was also infused with Utah references such as when Pot Pie proposes to Olive, he gives her this huge diamond ring and he says "I went to Jared" then later on when the Baddyson brothers try to steal the ring Bart keeps trying to give himself a name that isn't his own and he spits out Tom. Then Olive says "You ought to be ashamed of yourself." "I am. I'm Tom Shame, your friend in the diamond business." He continued on to recite the radio commercials that are famous here in Salt Lake Valley. There were lots of other references too like at the beginning Olive is excited that Pot Pie is coming home from his 24 months at sea. He is a moor man. She is so excited to see him after his two year moor man mission.

We really liked Olive, she played really well with the audience and the character. Pot Pie was pretty funny too. I probably laughed hardest at Barbie Boop. She did the greatest voice and was probably the best actor up there. Julie really liked Baby. It was this kid that would stick his head out of a baby basket and had baby doll arms. He was really funny.

After the play was over, we stayed for the improv show. We had payed for both. Eric Jensen who played Pot Pie was one of the troupe. It was really funny in the beginning. A couple of guys were by far the most original and funny. I could try to explain but I think you had to be there. You can see more info about this at The OBT website. We had so much fun. Afterwards we took in a late night dessert at Village Inn. Then back to my house to sit and chat and sleep. This time we only stayed up until 3:00 am. I did mostly origami off my new page a day Origami calendar. I love it.

Sunday morning/noon we went and had lunch at Red Lobster. Love that place. Then we went to Costco so I could take advantage of Aly's membership and buy Loralee and I our books for this month's book club book. I also found The Lake House for $10! I was siked. I've been waiting to find a cheap version of that. Then back to my house to laze around for another hour and then the girls were off back to the respective living situations. Then End.

Seriously gals I had so much fun, as always. Aly and I are already planning on the next one when we will make our way down to Cedar City.

P.S. to our mothers. Funnily enough I don't think we really talked about you at all. A mention here and there. I guess we have said it all so you'd better do something crazy so we can talk about that.

Cousins Weekend numero (not sure, haven't really kept track, let's call it ) 5!

I was nominated to do the blogging of this last weekend. Oh what a weekend it was too. One of the most outstanding cousins weekends so far. Not to say they weren't all fantabulous, but I think this one will stand out. I know that those of you, reading this, who were not there are just on tender hooks to know. I'm just on tender hooks to tell you. Okay so here it goes.

Julie drove up from Cedar City to the great city of Salt Lake (we decided it was her turn to drive) and picked moi up then headed to lesser great city of Layton. Layton is fine, but well I don't really have a but so I'll just leave it to you to put in your own but. So anyway, we drove to Aly's apartment (which Julie had never seen before). I just realized that I might be getting a little too detaily but I'm in that mood so I'll try to cut back but I want you all to understand, if not imagine, that you were there. Okay, so anyway (how many times am I gonna say that in this post? sorry I keep getting distracted) we sat and talked as cousins who haven't seen each other in weeks are wont to do, of course I had just seen Aly a few days ago, amazing that we don't get tired of each other. Now I hadn't eaten all day thinking I would gorge myself at dinner, but we didn't eat until 9:00 because we just kept talking and talking. Finally, we decided to go to Mimi's Cafe. Julie had never eaten there before and she loves to try new places. And yes, I gorged myself on a cheeseburger and fries and the biggest New York cheesecake. I mean, it was bigger than a cheese wedge that you cut off from a cheese wheel. Huge! and oh so good. (better than the meal) Aly had the clam chowder which was extremely salty and she couldn't eat it, luckily the waitress noticed and took it off her bill. She got the brownie sundae for dessert. With the biggest brownie slices, (yes plural, there were two!). I can't even describe to you the enormousness of those brownie slices. Let's see, Julie had....crap I don't remember, sorry Jules. Her dessert was the creme brulet or something like that I think and it was the largest creme brulet I had ever seen like the size of a pot pie, maybe even bigger.

After eating as much of our desserts as we possibly could we went back to Aly's where the all night conversation began. Confessions were made, advice was given and then just general things here and there. I dozed off from time to time and there would be times we would try to call it a night but then someone would start talking and we would be at it again. It was pretty funny. Around 4 am I think we were really going to go to bed. Aly was in her room and then Julie asked me a question about something and I answered with my eyes closed and then we kept talking back and forth. Soon Aly came back out and not wanting to miss out on any conversation so we had about another hour of talk. I love it. Then we slept, not too comfortably for me as I was on the loveseat but fine enough for the time.

Wake up time was around 11:00 though a couple of us woke up earlier but just rolled over and went back to sleep. Okay this is way too detailed. I'll summarize the next little bit. and continue on in the next post. We sat and talked again (what else could we possibly have to say) until around 3:00 when we decided we needed to get ready to back down to SLC. There we had dinner at Cafe Med. So good. Love love love. Then we headed to our exciting destination of seeing an Off Broadway Play called Pot Pie the Sailor Man!!!!

.....to be continued.

Update on Yearly Goals

Well, the month of January seem to go really well. I did most of my exercising that I wanted to do. However, the month of February proved a lot harder mainly because I was so busy. I started taking all these classes that I just couldn't fit in any time to focus on losing weight, taking pictures, scrapbooking or writing in my journal. Which reminds me that I have a deadline for a scrapbook page for an upcoming class. It all is just too much.

In case you were interested and don't already know the classes I have been taking are guitar, piano and hip hop. That is three nights out of the week and only for an hour but then there is travel time and running errands. Plus you just need time to relax a little after work, which usually wasn't a problem when I got home from these classes but then I wouldn't want to do anything else. So everything else has slacked off for the time being. What about the other nights of the week, you ask? Well, those usually get filled up with social engagements. Game nights, girls nights, book club, appointments, concerts and just generally hanging out with friends. I was finding no time to practice either of my instruments.

Well, now March has arrived and most of classes are ending. Of course I could decide to continue on, except for piano which I am on a hiatus from because I think my teacher is swamped as well as I plus she doesn't have anything for me to do to pay her back short of actually paying her. But we haven't discussed that option yet. I was sad for that but she said she would always be there if I wanted to learn something. The next couple of weeks will be a good break and I can decide what to do from there or how to better manage my time.

It's a conundrum because I liked that I was not just sitting at home being boring but I was out making my life more interesting and it really added to my conversations with people but I also missed just relaxing after work and watching t.v. and not constantly rushing from one thing to the next. Any advice?
