Kids at the Park

Last week my dad, step-mom and little brother Saxton came were in town. We all got together for dinner with Jordan and his family and then to wind down the kids we headed to the nearest park. There, Lincoln swung with me in the swings and then tried out all the slides like this one:
Saxton Joined in too
But this slide was Lincoln's favorite.Dad had to hoist him up each time he wanted to ride because it was just a ladder entrance. I stood on the platform to help him into the slide. And Grandpa watched the end to make sure he got out okay. And this happened over and over and over.Lincoln soon figured out how to get himself into the slide and didn't need my help anymore, but I stayed around just in case.Soon Jordan got tired of lifting Lincoln up onto the slide and tried to move him on to something else. Which worked for a little while, but then he was never far from his slide. After Lincoln dug in the woodchips and threw them around a bit he wanted on the slide again. Sweet Grandpa was there to oblige. Such a fun, cute kid.

Organizing the Fridge

So last night my roommate Jen and I got to talking and bitching and moaning about our other roommate Tamara. Well, all that led to how horrible our fridge looked. It was chock full of crap and it is always so hard to find anything in there. Stuff in the back of the fridge that's been there for ever because no one would claim it. Well, Jen and I had had enough and we decided we need to give each of us individual shelves. We threw lots of stuff away, cleaned out the entire fridge, and labeled the shelves. We were very generous with Tam because she does cook more than we do, but I think this will show her how much stuff she actually does have and will use it. Same with us as well.
Here is the door shelves. We gave Tam the top and bottom shelves and Jen and I are sharing the middle shelf. Can you see what I'm talking about now?

Again Top shelf is Tamara's, but still not quite enough room to fit all of her stuff so Jen gave up one of the bottom drawers, and still we had to sacrifice a little space on our own shelves, TEMPORARILY, to fit the bowl of watermelon and other stuff we didn't know if it was hers or if she would want it. Mine is the second shelf and Jen's is the bottom and one drawer. I know the pictures are grainy but can you see how much stuff she has compared to us? We had to stack and stack her stuff. On Jen and My shelves everything on the right side is ours, and the stuff on the left is hers. Like I said though, only TEMPORARILY. I think this is gonna work out and will be so fabulous. I'm so excited to have my own shelf.

..And They Call the Thing Rodeo!

So this summer, my friends have introduced me to the joys of rodeos. I've been to one almost every month this summer. I've been to rodeos before. I went to the rodeo in my hometown quite often, but it was usually for the purpose of trolling for guys and not to watch the bull riding. This summer, however, I got really into all the events that rodeos have to offer.

On July 24th, I was invited along to the Cheyenne "Daddy of 'Em All" Rodeo. It was amazing. We had really good seats and saw some amazing cowboys. Cheyenne adds a little more rules than most rodeos so it was a lot tougher for cowboys to get good times. Us four gals had such a good time, checking out the good looking cowboys and enjoying all the events. Best of all my little sis, Breecia, is going to school in Cheyenne so I got to spend a little time with her. Here we are in the car on our way to Cheyenne, which is quite a distance. Clockwise from the front passenger: Melanie, Sarah (Buttars), Me and Carrie driving. All decked out Rodeo style!!
Me and my gorgeous little sister Breecia:
This was right after seeing Kenny Chesney in concert, which was really fun too, but could have been more enjoyable for me if I had known more of his songs. The other gals really liked it and he does put on a good show.

Then the next weekend another group of us headed up to Preston, Idaho to the grand rodeo up there. That one was really a lot of fun and pretty exciting.
Message incoming from God, maybe?

Calf Roping:
There were quite a few cute cowboys in this bunch: (:

Thought Provoking Life Moment

Last night I was spending time with my friend and her husband. You might have heard of them here on my blog? The ever fabulous Loralee and David? Well, anyway I hadn't been to their place in a while and I always enjoy my visits and I needed a little perk me up. Loralee always has some new design element that she has created for her home every time I come and last night was no different. She had made the most amazing headboard. But I digress.

We were all sitting around the kitchen table and I was giving the low down on our friends and news that Loralee may not have heard. Somewhere in the conversation I said something about myself, which I can't really recall but I think it was along the lines of how I would tell someone how I felt about something even if I knew that they may not like to hear it. Which prompted Lor to say "David said something the other day about you, 'that you always know where you stand with Cassie.'" The conversation went on and I discovered that I'm not always honest with everyone, I can be fake, but it's usually only with people I don't care about. It's the people that are closest to me who I feel okay being myself with and saying what I really think.

It's a quality of mine that I haven't decided if it's good or not. I get mixed reactions. Some of my friends say they like it, but I know there are others who don't. I just tell people the kinds of things that I would want to be told as a friend. This moved the conversation on to how when Loralee and I lived together that when she would criticize me about something I wouldn't get defensive but was very open minded to what she was saying and most people including herself aren't too often like that. I think I would get defensive at first, but then I would usually listen to what she had to say.

I think the only hard thing about being very blunt and honest is when I hurt other people's feelings. And usually I have no idea that whatever it is I am going to say will upset someone until after it's out of my mouth. It kind of shocks me when I realize I've offended someone. But as Loralee pointed out last night. "You always hurt the ones you love." So I guess if I offend you it means I really like you. (:

Really, though I wouldn't change this about me. I like laying things out there. Sure I get myself into trouble lots of times and create unnecessary dramas, but every once in a while it helps. I know I've talked about this before, but it's just something I like to revisit every now and then.

Just a Little Mischief

So about a month ago, my coworker Chris was going on Vacation for about a week and I needed to take over one of his duties--namely the dreaded check run. Well, I forgot to get his keys from him and he usually locks up the check stock and micro-encoding ink toner in his cabinet. I know we have spares for everyone's keys locked up in the file room, with one person holding the key. Shauna. Well, I got her to let me in and get his keys, but when I opened his cupboards the stuff wasn't there. I soon found out he had given them to our boss for this very reason. Smart guy. As I held his keys and did the check run at his desk, an idea came to mind. I've never done an office prank. (: I tried to think of something easy and quick. I'm too lazy to post-it note his office or anything like that. Unfortunately, I had to give back the keys before I could implement the whole thing right then. So I did what I could with all his the stuff on top of his desk.See those binders-I moved them to the other cabinet. The desk has already been switched around. The printer used to be by the window. I even switched the two monitors. I did every little detail I could get my hands on.Here's me at work. Basically, I just reversed his office. Not too ingenius but I got a kick out of it. I don't have any before pics, I thought I would get them when he put everything back, but he left a lot of it the way it was.

Now don't tell anyone this next part, because it's slightly immoral. I really wanted to go all out with Chris's office but I needed his keys again to get into his drawers. Well, the day before I saw where Shauna kept her key to the "spare key cabinet." And I also know that Shauna doesn't lock her drawers during the day only after she leaves for the night. Well, I waited til she went on her lunch break and then got the key from her drawer--took out Chris's keys and my spare keys and put the key back in Shauna's drawer. Then I was able to accomplish the full prank. The stuff in the second little drawer used to be in top drawer and vice versa. See how that bigger drawer is empty. It's contents went way over here....I hope you can kind of tell from these pics the layout of his office. See above where his family photo are and his phone. They used to be near his computer for easy access.

It didn't really have the outcome I was hoping for. I was out of town when Chris got back so I had a little helper fill me in on his reaction. It was pretty underwhelming, let me just say. I mean for crying out loud, he hasn't really switched much back. Oh well. It was a fun waste of time. And when I got back I had to sneak the key from Shauna's drawer again to mine and Chris's keys back. I took my keys in case they got any ideas while I was gone and wanted to do the same kind of thing. In fact, I completely cleared my desk of most stuff so much so that people thought I had either quit or moved to a different desk.
