So this last weekend, I had heard that some people were getting together to go camping. It sounded kind of fun but I wasn't sure that I was in the mood for that. I was looking forward to my nice comfortable bed and sleeping in on Saturday. I knew I wouldn't get any of that going camping. But then I thought I have been a little anti-social lately and I should just push myself to go because most likely I would have a good time. Well, I was half right.
Friday night I got home still debating even though I was packing as if I was going. It's never a sure thing until you are in the car. Well, my roommate went to get food at the store planning on leaving as soon as she got home. She was really anxious to go. A few people were already up at the camping spot and we needed to go early enough to find them. Well, there was only one hitch. The guy that my roommate is dating is extremely slow. He'll say he'll be fast but to him fast is an hour. So we waited almost two hours for him and then it seemed that he would need to drive his own car because he needed to be back in town early on Saturday. Well, L was extremely frustrated because she wanted to stay and do things on the mountain. Well, she decided she would rather drive with D and then bring him home early then just go separate. Oh and for those who care they are kissing again. Apparently, they've been kissing for a while. Their abstinence only lasted for two weeks. Sneaky little buggers.
Anyway so the whole drive up there L is apologizing for being grouchy and frustrated and then complaining again about how late its going to be. So its a constant back and forth of "I'm Frustrated!" "I'm sorry I'm so Frustrated" "I'm Frustrated" Anyway there wasn't too much conversation on the way up. I tried but in the end I got frustrated too because she was frustrated at how unfrustrated D was for making us late and so on so forth. Well, we got a little lost because we were trying to strictly adhere to the mapquest mileage so we turned earlier than we were supposed to. We asked directions twice and finally after driving back and forth a couple of times we found the place. It was 10:30 at night and really dark so we drive around the campground trying to find the girls. But no luck. We figured the campground was full when they got there and so they went camping somewhere else. But we had no way of contacting them. Well more frustration ensues. Well, where should we camping we don't have any supplies?
Well, low and behold we pass by our friend J who is driving up to meet us and he is mister boy scout. He knows all the good camping places so he leads us to a place and we finally set up camp around 11:30. We get a fire going and hang out trying to get J to divulge what L said in her sleep the last time we went camping together. Apparently, it is a little risque, but after giving small hints he wouldn't budge.
Poor L got no sleep that night but hey she said I didn't snore that loud this time. Yay! I'm getting better. D and I slept a little longer, until L made us get up.
Well, I wandered around. It was really a beautiful spot. The trees and wildflowers. I read a little in the sun and J cooked us some breakfast. I took some pictures and then took a little nap in the tent.
Next thing I know L is telling me to cover my ears because J is about to shoot a really loud rifle. A 50 calibre black powder rifle to be exact. It was pretty loud. Then he is showing L how to load the gun and it is right out of a civil war movie. You pour the gun powder out of the powder horn down the barrel and then stick in the lead ball. Get the long stick that is attached to the side of the gun and push it all down to the bottom. A few more things and then the gun is ready to be shot. L was scared and didn't want to actually shoot it. But I decided to. It was cool. Hardly any kickback.
I talked L into giving it a try.
She couldn't really lift the gun so she sat down and had the barrell resting on a chair. We all took turns and it was great fun. Well, then it was time to come home. Hopefully to a nap but other things came up and I only spent about thirty minutes at home before I came home to go to bed at around 12:30. I slept all day the next day. Oh it was good. Yet I was still on awnry but that is another story.

Quite the camping trip. I'm not much for camping because it almost always seems like it's more frustrated than 'worth it'.
It sure looked like fun, but then you never really said. So are you, or are you not glad you went? Surely it was more comfortable than that Australian Outback Walkabout you introduced us to.
Yes it was fun, but I don't know if it was worth giving up my comfortable bed. The area we were in was really beautiful and if I had a better camera I could have gotten some better shots.
I heard you stopped by to see D's sister and her hubby. They told me that at a family get together on Saturday night. Nick was in town from N. Dakota, so we all went up to Brad's house for a BBQ. That meant we didn't get to see J&S while they were here.
I think it's looks very beautiful. The kind of place I would drive up to in the morning, spend a couple of hours, and drive home. That's my idea of camping. Love the shots of you girls shooting the rifle. It's pretty scary.
I enjoyed the pictures! I think camping is a lot of fun, but it seems like you need to be up there two nights for it to be worth the hassle. That said, the two times I've gone this summer I didn't have any hassle (C and Dad did most of the work) so only one night was fine by me. :)
Yeah Jules, I would like to camp longer sometime. Jason really hated the idea of going up and then coming right back down but he had is own vehicle so he could have stayed as late as he wanted. On our next river rafting trip we have to fight with him on when we are coming back because some of us would like to be back to go to church (that some of us doesn't really include me. I don't care)
What a heathen
