So last night I went to Cafe Med for a birthday dinner for a girl in my bookclub and ward. I was sitting next to Loralee and we were just chatting with other girls as they arrived. We already had our glasses of water and all of us were drinking our share. As we are chatting and looking at the menu our waitress brings over several carafes (they are the pitchers of water, I just clarify because I didn't they were called that until recently, but I'm sure you all are much smarter than I am) and sets them throughout the table, one near Loralee. As we are chatting I look over at Loralee and see that she is drinking right out of the carafe. I watch her for a few seconds and then she set it down but then within another few seconds she picks it up and again and really drinks from it. I am not the only watching her do this. So after getting over my amazement, I voice my confusion. "Are you drinking out of the carafe!?" Which yes is an obvious question but hey Bill Engvall wasn't around (who got that reference?) so I felt it was okay. So anyway Loralee looks down at what she is drinking out of and gets this shocked followed by embarrassed look on her face. We all bust up laughing especially as she tries to wipe her lipstick off the rim. We had a good chuckle about it for about ten minutes and were sure to tell others the story as they arrive. Good times.

Your little ploy worked - I visited both blogs, which I may not have done without the bait! HA! I'm wondering if after all that water and then all that laughter if there wasn't a mass stampede to the restroom.
Nah! It wasn't that bad. Like I said just a long chuckle. But I still get a chuckle everytime I think about it.
Hilarious.
That reminds me of a story told about Jaqueline Kennedy. She was seated next to the wife of a visiting dignitary from a foreign land. It was a formal White House dinner.
Finger bowls were set at each place at the table. Jackie noticed some other woman looking with distain and the foreign guest. The visitor was drinking from her finger bowl. Jackie immediately picked up her finger bowl and also drank.
Pretty gracious don't you think? Not at all suggesting that a good laugh at a birthday party wasn't just as appropriate, though.
My Mom was once seated next to President N. Eldon Tanner at an FHA banquet. They had served hard rolls. Mom didn't dare eat her roll for fear of the crumbs. President Tanner noticed this and without even asking about her problem, held his roll beneath the table and tore it open, then winking at her said, "Try that."
I laughed out loud at this! Katie turned and asked,"What?", so I started over and started reading out loud to her. I almost couldn't speak clearly I was laughing so hard. This is definitely one of those great moments that will bring amusement for years to come. You know, when you and Loralee get together in the future and talk about those "remember when..."s.
Carafe?
I am impressed that you know your lingo.
P.S. Did you watch Benji (our hero missionary) win last night?
I had to record it but I saw it today. So exciting? My tape ran out right after they announced it so I only got to see him burst into tears and then it was done.
How funny. We both live in Utah, and I would definately drink out of a carafe.
Small world.
Tell your Loralee, "Ha Ha HA" over this one.
