Class 1 Finale Cake

This cake was fun to do only because I didn't have to be so perfect about the icing and stuff and it was just a whole bunch of dots. I donated this cake to the Relief Society Broadcast dinner, which I didn't attend so I don't know how it tasted. It was a strawberry cake, so I probably wouldn't have liked it anyway. I hope others did. I've already signed up for class 2 which starts in 2 weeks. luckily I won't have to make a cake for each class this time so I'll just do them on my own. I already have another birthday coming up and I'm going to do another one for my book club meeting just for fun. I'll take pictures of those too.

Really, Aly? Cause my fav is the big bunch right in the middle on top.

Gorgeous cake. I bet it was the first one eaten at the dinner.

Question: What does the dark blue icing taste like? Does it take on the flavor of the dye or have come up with good tasting dyes?

It's so beautiful! Although it makes me want a glass of wine...

Though it looks blue in the picture it was really purple and we use coloring gel to color the icing so it pretty much taste just like buttercream icing. It doesn't add any flavor at all. That's why it is better to use these than regular food coloring.

Very impressive. Again, I wish I could have taste-tested it. You know, it's probably a good thing I don't live in SLC - I'd probably gain a ton eating your cakes!

Dearest Cassie,
You do such a great job with cake decorating, they look yummy. You wouldn't want to send one up to your favorite movie watching/quoting buddy would you? I don't think the 3 days of shipping will hurt it.
Thanks.

That's so cool! I've always wanted to sign up for a cake decorating class, but I lack the nerve. And how cool that you donated it after all that work!
