Just a Little Mischief

So about a month ago, my coworker Chris was going on Vacation for about a week and I needed to take over one of his duties--namely the dreaded check run. Well, I forgot to get his keys from him and he usually locks up the check stock and micro-encoding ink toner in his cabinet. I know we have spares for everyone's keys locked up in the file room, with one person holding the key. Shauna. Well, I got her to let me in and get his keys, but when I opened his cupboards the stuff wasn't there. I soon found out he had given them to our boss for this very reason. Smart guy. As I held his keys and did the check run at his desk, an idea came to mind. I've never done an office prank. (: I tried to think of something easy and quick. I'm too lazy to post-it note his office or anything like that. Unfortunately, I had to give back the keys before I could implement the whole thing right then. So I did what I could with all his the stuff on top of his desk.See those binders-I moved them to the other cabinet. The desk has already been switched around. The printer used to be by the window. I even switched the two monitors. I did every little detail I could get my hands on.Here's me at work. Basically, I just reversed his office. Not too ingenius but I got a kick out of it. I don't have any before pics, I thought I would get them when he put everything back, but he left a lot of it the way it was.

Now don't tell anyone this next part, because it's slightly immoral. I really wanted to go all out with Chris's office but I needed his keys again to get into his drawers. Well, the day before I saw where Shauna kept her key to the "spare key cabinet." And I also know that Shauna doesn't lock her drawers during the day only after she leaves for the night. Well, I waited til she went on her lunch break and then got the key from her drawer--took out Chris's keys and my spare keys and put the key back in Shauna's drawer. Then I was able to accomplish the full prank. The stuff in the second little drawer used to be in top drawer and vice versa. See how that bigger drawer is empty. It's contents went way over here....I hope you can kind of tell from these pics the layout of his office. See above where his family photo are and his phone. They used to be near his computer for easy access.

It didn't really have the outcome I was hoping for. I was out of town when Chris got back so I had a little helper fill me in on his reaction. It was pretty underwhelming, let me just say. I mean for crying out loud, he hasn't really switched much back. Oh well. It was a fun waste of time. And when I got back I had to sneak the key from Shauna's drawer again to mine and Chris's keys back. I took my keys in case they got any ideas while I was gone and wanted to do the same kind of thing. In fact, I completely cleared my desk of most stuff so much so that people thought I had either quit or moved to a different desk.

I love that you did that, even if his response wasn't as fun as it could have been. I looked into doing the same thing to my boss, but his desk is so boring that there wasn't really anything to switch around. I guess I'll have to think of something esle. Woohoo for office pranks!

Oh, heck! I was hoping he'd be really freaked out and have a good reaction. Short of that, it sounds like you had a lot of fun. I'm still disappointed in his reaction, tho.

Too bad he didn't react better. Probably doesn't want to give you the satisfaction. On the other hand, nobody better try that with my stuff. ;)

How fun! I'm so proud of you, Cassie, for having so much imagination and gumption! My best co-worker prank was when another teacher and I moved ALL of Mr. Tawa's furniture out of his classroom and set it up outside exactly the same as it had been inside. Now THAT elicited a great response and years of pranks. Keep it going, Cass!
