So like most of you out there I have set up some goals or resolutions for myself for this year. I really plan on doing my best to stick to them. I have made a detailed plan for each goal about how I will keep it. I have also given myself the rule that I if I mess up or don't accomplish something that I should in a day then I will not beat myself up about it and then eventually give up. I will just continue on as if I hadn't messed up. I have several goals but I am only going to share a few with you because others are personal. But in telling you this it is a way of knowing that people know I have these goals and it will help to motivate me as I'm sure you will all ask me when you see me "So how are you coming with your goals?" Then I won't have to say "Yeah, not so good." But even I do answer that, it is okay. Though I would be happy for your support I don't want to feel any pressure to keep my goals. So if I do answer "not so good" try not to condemn me for it okay? Okay. Here we go.
Goal 1: Lose Weight (the most common resolution there is, I know. Hey I never said I was a trend setter)
a. Go briskly walking for 30 minutes every day except Tuesday, Friday and Sunday.
b. No more fast food.
c. Tuesday go to dance class (Loralee and I joined a Hip Hop class)
d. Do crunches and lift weights once done with walking (haven't quite got into this part yet)
Goal 2: Get more into photography
a. Have camera with you at all times
b. Take a picture of something that is beautiful to you or touches you at least once a week.
c. Make one scrapbook page every week.
Goal 3: Be more frequent in writing in my journal
a. Must write at least once a week.
b. Write in a way that would be interesting to read
c. Try to do something each week that you would want to write about.
Goal 4: Gain more Spirituality/Repent of Transgressions
a. Pray every night with sincerity, ask for forgiveness
b. Read scriptures every day
Goal 5: Stop the Comparing
a. You want attention then go for it
b. Have confidence in yourself
c. Put your talents out there.
d. Ask for help (meaning in improving my talents)
So those are my goals. Nothing to rigid I think. Some ways that I am keeping them are kind of already stated, but for a little more insight into goal 5...I have just bought myself a guitar and I am taking lessons once a week. I also plan on continuing my piano lessons and try to practice more and more. Also, with my photography I plan on framing some of my better shots and displaying them in our house so then if people notice them and want to talk to me about it they can. In a way it seems like I am competing with Loralee but I'm not. She is a much better artist, and I am not one at all really. I just want something that I love to do be shown to others as well in a way of letting them get to know me. So that's about it. I've been doing okay so far. Doing really well on the exercising part except for what I mentioned above. Took a picture of my guitar, because it is a beautiful thing. I need to start reading my scriptures more, that's a hard one for me when there is a good book just calling my name. So I'm working on that. I think it's going to be a good year.

Wow, I am so impressed. Those are truly worthy goals. Can I just copy them? I can't imagine anyone getting on your case if you mess up now and then. Were you talking about me?????
No, I don't really have anyone in particular in mind. I think it is just human nature to shame people when they have told you these goals and they don't follow through. Or maybe that's just me as I have come to find out.
These are fabulous goals. I found your blog through google and will definitely return...you have so many things that I love...Audrey, scrapbooking, a visit to Paris. Good luck on your goals this year!
Awesome goals! I think it's fabulous that you bought a guitar and are going to have lessons. I am also planning on learning a new instrument this year, either the guitar, cello, or violin.
Good luck with your resolutions!
Great goals! I am here for you with all the support you may need, but none of the pressure. I think you'll do wonderfully well.
Julie, I really want to learn the violin too. I almost bought one so I could take lessons through my school, but decided I better wait and save up for it rather than put it on my credit card.
cool. we could start a band.
I went to the music store yesterday and looked at instruments. There was this beautiful cello for $1600 - I decided that is too pricey for me. They had a full-size violin, but it wasn't what I wanted, and a 3/4 violin that was exactly what I wanted, just too small. They'll get a full-size one next week. So, I'm going to think about which instrument I'd rather learn, the guitar or the violin.
Thanks Katie, I've already slacked off a little on mine as well. I just have so much going on right now that it is hard to focus on what I want to accomplish, but like I said I don't let it get me down. I will try again tomorrow.
Uhmm...my comment must not have gone through. It was all supportive and enthusiastic, I remember.
