So, I'm tired of doing these Europe trip posts. You probably are too especially since they are few and far between. So let me just do a quick summarization of the rest of the trip.
Last day in Paris we hit the musuems. Loved all the impressionists at the Musee D'orsay. Louvre was okay but what I will most remember is getting ditched (at least I thought I had) and walking around the musuem by myself. Then having a panic attack when the time we had discussed to leave came and went and I still hadn't found Melanie or Jason. Just picture me frantically roaming around the lobby of the Louvre, going up and down escalators, constantly checking my watch with these questions running around in my head: "Did they leave me? They wouldn't leave me, would they? Are they waiting outside? " The Louvre is a pretty big place so my panic was reasonable I think. I hope so because I don't want to have cried for nothing.
Early morning train to Biarittz (south of France on the coast). It rained almost the whole time we were there which put a damper on Melanie and Jason's surfing plans but they got in a few hours before we had to catch our train to Switzerland.
14 Hour night train to Switzerland in second class. Not fun, freezing and hardly slept.
Beautiful Switzerland (Gimmelwald, more specifically). We stayed in the small mountain village in a Hostel (our first real hostel). Rained the first day but perfectly sunny the next where we hiked up to the next town and wandered around, ate and played a little giant chess.
Overnight train to Munich. Actually we had to make three transfers througout the night in order to get to Munich when we wanted. Much more comfortable than the first overnight train but the constant waking and transfering was not fun.
Met a guy in the train station offered to rent us his apartment for the night. Very nice. Checked out Oktoberfest for a bit (had a bratwurst, so good!) then checked out the rest of the city. Back to Oktoberfest at night when the party really happens and watched a lot of funny drunk people. Next day went to see Olympic park which took forever and totally not worth it. Making us have to run to catch a train to Fussen to go to Neuschwanstein.
Neuschwanstein: closed early that day so we missed getting into the last tour but took a bus and hiked a little up to it just to get pictures. We had our packs on the entire time. Then stayed too long and missed the last bus back to the train station and so had to walk 5 miles! WITH OUR PACKS! Decided to get a hotel there instead of night training it to Salzburg. Nicest hotel room ever. Little pricey but it was worth it. Got a good breakfast. Lovely. Definitely needed that.
Had to take a train back to Munich to transfer to a train to Salzburg so saw a lot of interesting people going to Oktoberfest for the weekend. Guys in drag and lots of guys in lederhosen. Met up with Jason's friend Peter in Salzburg who was letting us use his aparment while we were there. So HOT! Well he is a model. Salzburg is a lot smaller than I thought. It only took a day to walk around most of the town. Peter took us to dinner where I had a Steckerlfisch. Which is a fish cooked still with its head and scales on it. Amazingly enough it was so good.
Next day Sound of Music tour. I was pretty excited. It's a great tour you get to see a lot of the Austrian countryside which is really pretty. We saw the Gazebo, the gardens where the kids sing do re mi, and the church where they filmed the wedding and other things. Our tour guide was really nice and funny. I sang along with the soundtrack that was played as we drove. So much fun. The next day Jason and I had to wake up early. He walked me to the bus station where I got a cab to take me to the airport. My flight home was a lot more calm this time. No running through the airports; I always had plenty of time. Salzburg to Frankfurt(huge line at security)to Chicago(another long line)to Salt Lake.
That's it. The End.

My favorite part of your "Ditche in the Louvre" story is when the girl offered you a ticket in; like she thought you were crying in the lobby because you couldn't go inside. I can't believe you left that part out!!
well I couldn't get into too much detail. That was pretty funny now that I look back on it. Actually it was pretty funny right when it happend but only for a second and then it was back to panic mode.
Oh shoot I left out Notre Dame. So quickly, after the Musee D'Orsay we went to Notre Dame. Heard the loud pipes. Then climbed a bazillion gagillion stairs to the top to stare at the gargoyles and go into the bell tower to see an actual bell. then climbed a few more stairs to, yes the very top, The stairs were crazy too. So narrow you had to really press yourself up against a wall if anyone wanted to pass you but those smart Frenchies had you go up one side of the cathedral and down the other. 364 steps or was 384? I don't know what they did with the other gagillion on the way down but it felt about the same. (:
I know this summarization doesn't really tell you my thoughts or feelings as I saw these amazing things but let's face you don't really care. I don't know if I even care. I'm having the darndest time updating my journal with all that stuff. It takes major will power.
Wow! What a trip! I don't think I needed TOO much detail. This quick summary was great! (but the offering the ticket part is funny!)
Love the picture at the gazebo. I definitely need to take you on a trip with me. I would never ditch you.
I wouldn't ditch you, either! Have I mentioned lately how jealous I am (still) that you got to go to Europe!? Someday, someday.
About trips, though, the invitation for the cruise in August is still open!
I'm still thinking about the cruise, but most likely I should save money for a new car. My mom said she might like to go.
