So on Oscar night, in order to convince people to watch the show with me I had a little dinner party. Very small. Just me, Loralee, Alyson and Carrie. I made dinner. Then we watched the show. There were some pretty fun moments and a couple other people came over to join us. Anyway here are the real winners.
Best Picture: The Departed
Best Director: Martin Scorsese
Best Actor: Forest Whitaker
Best Actress: Helen Mirren
Best Supporting Actor: Alan Arkin
Best Supporting Actress: Jennifer Hudson
Best Animated Feature: Happy Feet
Art Direction: Pan's Labyrinth
Cinematography: Pan's Labyrinth
Costume Design: Marie Antoinette
Documentary: An Inconvenient Truth
Foreign Language: The Lives of Others
Makeup: Pan's Labyrinth
Visual Effects: Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest
Adapted Screenplay: The Departed
So I got Seven right. Not bad considering I have seen only one of those movies listed.

You didn't have to bribe me with dinner. I was already on the guest list with my affirmative RSVP delivered before I even knew about dinner. I had fun, and I did appreciate dinner...it was delicious.
You did much better than I did at picking the winners. I think I only got 4 or 5 right the hole night, and some of those were in categories not listed. You probably could add a couple to your actual score since I know you got a few of those not listed categories right as well.
That is soooo annoying! I wrote a very long-winded comment and it didn't publish!
Oh well, I'll recap - I ended up watching the last part of the Oscars, starting with Best Actress. Actually, I only watch until they get in front of the mic because it makes me uncomfortable to listen to the speeches. I guess I've seen too many make fools of themselves (and not the good way). I watch up 'til that moment because sometimes they do something cool before they speak. For example, one of my favorite Oscar moments was when Adrian Brody totally kissed Halle Berry when he won Best Actor. That was fun.
Anyhoo, what did you serve for your dinner? I'm glad you had a fun evening. Good job with your predictions!
You did really well. I don't even try to predict, because I don't have a clue.
We did watch it this year, which is unusual. It's definitely better to watch it with some other people so you can make comments.
I cooked that breaded chicken that is in the family cookbook under Myke's name, peas, instant mashed potatoes and Loralee made cornbread. It didn't turn out as good as it has in the past but it was still pretty good. I had a lot of fun.
Yeah Jules, there weren't really any cool moment in this Oscar. There were some interesting things but nothing really to write home about.
Is that why I didn't get a letter??
Is Pirates the one movie you've actually seen? It is for me. I would like to see Pan's Labyrinth and Happy Feet.
