Lincoln's First Birthday

I'll post my cruise story soon, but this one will be quick.

It was my nephew Lincoln's first birthday last week and his parents had a little party for him on Saturday. Earlier that week Stacey had called me to ask for ideas about his cake that she could do. She decided on a cupcake-cake in the shape of an 'L'. However, on Thursday morning she texted me saying she was just going to buy a cake unless I wanted to make one. Normally, I would like more notice, but how could I pass up making a wonderful cake for my favorite nephew for his very first birthday? So I looked for ideas online. My first idea was to do a Snoopy cake because that is his favorite toy but then I found an image that I really liked at Cake Central.com and decided to try to duplicate it. So here it is:

Isn't it cute! Even though the icing is far from perfect and cracked a little by the time I got to the house, I'm pretty happy with it. And it wasn't even really too difficult to make. Too bad you can't really see the "water" in the tub. There's too many bubbles. It's actually blue decorating gel, the same as the writing. Here are some other pictures from the party:

Opening Presents!

Singing Happy Birthday!

It took him a little bit to get into eating the cake and he didn't like having icing all over his hands but he ate most of it eventually.

Happy Birthday Buddy!!

Great job, Cassie! Love the rubber ducky in the tub with water spilling over. The rug is awesome.

I can't believe Lincoln is one already. He is so gosh darn cute. And your mom's hair looks fabulous.

When I saw that you had a new post I have to admit that my hear did a flip flop thinking maybe I was finally going to hear about the trip. It's a good thing there was a picture of such a cute baby or you might have been in dire straights.

He is so cute. I've never seen a one-year-old eat his cake so neatly.

Booklogged, I tried to do a blog on the trip but my pictures wouldn't download. !#%*^@%^$@#! stupid computer.

Cute kid! He has such a great smile! It's really infectious.

Love the cake! I'm so impressed, Cassie, as always when you post pictures of a cake you've made. I can't believe I didn't beg and plead for you to make a cake when you were here visiting. Hmmm. Maybe next time. J/K - I want you to be able to relax when you're here. Sigh. Cake sure sounds yummy, though. :)
